Provides students with an awareness of the implications of dealing with a member of the special population group. Includes:- - Emotional Disorders: Depression; Anxiety; Understanding causes and symptoms.
- Mental Disorders: Understanding schizophrenia; Psychosis.
- Personality Disorders: Psychopathy; Borderline Personality Disorder; Multiple Personality Disorder.
- Developmental Disorders: Autism; Asperger's Syndrome; Learning disabilities.
- Substance Use & Abuse: Biological effects of substance use; Behaviour implications.
- Impact on the Others: Negotiating with members of the special population group; De-fusion and De-escalation.
